American Heroes

We love, love, love these CDs! They are the American Hero Series by Jonathan Sprout. There are actually three CDs in the series but only two are available from the library. The first CD includes songs about Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Abraham Lincoln, Amelia Earhart, George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., Clara Barton and Sacagawea. The second CD features the Wright Brothers, Neil Armstrong, Eleanor Rosevelt, Johhny Appleseed, Jackie Robinson, Frederick Douglas, Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, Tecumseh and Helen Keller. The third CD was just released in January so maybe the library will get it soon!
Speaking of heroes, we also like The Children's Book of Heroes by William J. Bennett and illustrated by Michael Hague (one of our favorite illustrators). This book is also on CD and we have enjoyed listening to it in the car on trips.

Hi, it's Jonathan Sprout... writing to say thank you for recommending my CDs about American heroes! Learning, writing and recording songs about great people has enriched my personal life in countless ways. What I do in the making of these CDs has required help from a team of expert songwriters, producers and recording engineers, including Dave Kinnoin who has a new album out this month: "Teaspoon at a Time." I love Dave's CD and recommend you look for it. Take care!
