The Opium War- The Opium War took place in China. The British were selling Opium to the Chinese but the Chinese Emperor did not like opium because it was not good for his people. He told the British merchants to dump their opium into the ocean and told them they couldn't trade in China anymore. But the King of England did not like this so the Britain sent ships to China and attacked them. But China did have many ships or soldiers so they had to surrender and sign a treaty that was unfair. It forced the Chinese to pay a lot of money for the opium they had destroyed and they had to open their ports. Also, they had to give the island of Hong Kong to England.
