Dingoes first arrived in
northern Australia about 3,500 years ago. Dingoes are wild dogs that live in
Australia and Asia. Dingoes descended from pet wolves. Dingoes are mammals and
their scientific name is canis lupus
dingo.
Dingoes are Australia’s top
predator. Dingoes sometimes live in packs. Dingoes like to eat rabbits, lace monitors
and sometimes sheep. Dingoes communicate by howling and barking.
Dingoes mostly live in packs. Only
the lead male and female have pups but every member has a job. Dingoes are
mixing with other dogs so scientists are encouraging people to keep dingoes as
pets. They hope this helps dingoes not become extinct.
