"Creative Summer"

I have dubbed this summer "Creative Summer" and I am hoping that if I formalize my intent by putting it in print, then I will actually follow through. I have found that this is what happened when I started putting the current term's poet, composer, artist and Shakespeare in the sidebar of this blog. I actually had to make sure that I did each of those since I didn't want to be a hypocrite. (sigh)

Anyway, here are our summer goals followed by our booklists.

Creative Goals:

• Mom

1. Organize our favorite poems into a poetry binder.
2. Read Edward Lear poetry to the kids
3. Start writing poems
4. Take old nature drawings and put into the family nature binder and possibly frame.
5. Read about Opera stories with the kids

• Caleb

1. Learn the play the guitar with Mom
2. Write weekly on his blog- maybe publish "The Legend of Aragoth"

• Ethan

1. Continue taking nature photos
2. Work on drawing skills with Mom
3. Keep adding lego creations to blog

• Adam

1. Add a recipe each week to his blog
2. Work on watercolor skills

• Abigail

1. Learn to knit
2. Read the following children's authors and post to her book blog (Eric Carle, Steven Kellog, Tomie De Paola, Trina Schart Hyman, Jan Brett, Patricia Polacco, Chris Van Allsburg, K.Y. Craft, Barbara Cooney, Lois Ehlert, Dr. Seuss, Ezra Jack Keats)
