We have started a new project with our favorite artist- Mimi. We are making an art ABC book and each week when we go to her studio, we will discuss a new concept for that week. This week we talked about Abstract Art.
This is a work by Diebenkorn, one of Mimi's favorite abstract artists. She explained that abstract art uses color, line and form to create a dialogue or conversation within the work's composition.
What each person see in a piece of abstract art is highly personal. For example, the form and color in the painting above suggest a charcoal grill to me but you may see something different.
This is a series of drawings of a bull by Picasso. Each drawing becomes more abstracted.
This is a painting by Jackson Pollock. It is an example of non-objective abstract art.
