Chicago- Part 2

On Saturday, we visited the Art Institute of Chicago.

We started in the Thorne Miniature Rooms. These are a collection of miniature rooms designed by Mrs. Julia Ward Thorne between 1932 and 1940.

I like it because there are three stories going on at the same time in one painting- the campfire, the fishermen and the girls on the rock.

A Rembrandt

This is The Divine Shepherdess by an anonymous artist. This was really striking because the gold in the painting contrasted with the deep blue walls.

Seurat's Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Jatte.

This is one of Abigail's favorites. She always picks family members to be the figures in this painting.
