On Wednesday, we headed south to visit the ruins at Bet Shean.
Bet Shean, historically, was in an important location at the intersection of the Jordan Valley and Jezreel valley. It was the site of a city of the following civilizations: Canaanite, Egyptian, Philistine (King Saul's body was hung from it's walls), Israelite (conquered by King David), Greek (renamed Scythopolis), Roman, Byzantine, Arab (renamed Baysan), Crusader (Bessan), Mamluk, Ottoman, British and back to Israeli.
