Writing a Research Paper

Caleb had to write a research paper this past quarter. The title of his paper is The Legacy of Ancient Greece. We were a little off in our progress but here are the steps that we went through:

  • Pick a topic
  • Conduct research- write notes on notecards or use an app for notetaking
  • Form your thesis statement
  • Write your outline
  • Plug your research into your outline
  • Write your paper
  • introduction
    • hook
    • background
    • thesis statement
  • body papragraphs
    • topic sentence
    • detail sentences
    • clincher- (in this case, it was considering modern implications)
  • Conclusion
    • restate thesis
    • summarize findings
    • end with one important additional thought
  • Edit
  • Re-Write- adding title page, abstract and bibliography (noodlebib is an online citation creator- awesome.)
We used APA formatting and the Purdue OWL site is a great writing resource.
