John Singer Sargent

Our artist this term is John Singer Sargent (1856-1925). He was considered the leading portrait painter of the Edwardian era. Sargent was born of American parents but spent most of his life abroad- particularly in Europe. His paintings were often said to have captured the personalities of his subjects.
