Jacques Louis David- Painter of the French Republic

Jacques Louis David (1748-1825) was a painter during the French Revolution and also the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. Many of his painting represent Republican ideals. He is known for the Empire style most noted for its warm, Venetian colors. He is considered the premier French painter of his era.
