Architecture for Kids

We like architects around here (wink, wink). So we have been checking out some fun stuff lately.

1. David MacAulay- an author and illustrator who specializes in architecture. We have some of his books and have checked out many more of his books- Pyramid, City, Castle, Cathedral, Mosque, Underground and Ship. Last night, we watched a PBS presentation of Cathedral on DVD and we have watched Castle in the past. Highly recommended. Also, check out this website.

2. We also have really enjoyed books by Albert Lorenz. House, Metropolis and Jack and the

Beanstalk are a few that we have enjoyed.

3. We would love to have this book about Frank Lloyd Wright but alas, our library does not have it. You may want to check out The Wright 3 by BlueBalliett. Or you could check out this website. Also, Lego has a great architecture line. My boys are itching to try Fallingwater (see above.)

5. Architecture for Kids- a great blogsite with many resources.

6. One last building site: Soda Constructor- we haven't done much with this one but it looks cool.
