Celebrating the Season

We are doing all of the usual things to celebrate the season: snowflakes, gingerbread men, making gifts, etc.... but we have a few new traditions this year. Above you see Abigail helping me make my new favorite Christmas treat: chocolate covered pretzels with seasonal sprinkles.
They are salty, sweet and oh, so simple. I melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in my double boiler, dip in the pretzels, sprinkle and then put in the freezer for a few minutes to harden and voila! A no-bake, bite-sized Christmas treat to share.

Here the boys are modeling the wisemen costumes for our play about the birth of Jesus which we will be performing this Wednesday evening. Thanks to Sister Kathy for the costumes- they were so great that the boys wanted to try them on right away even though only Adam is actually a wiseman. (Caleb is Joseph and Ethan is a shepherd). Thanks also to Sister Suzy who did the angels although I don't have a photo. I "sewed" the others.....

The Freeze Game (winter version)
We snuggle up in blankets in front of the tree and take turns telling a story. One person starts telling and then when someone else wants a turn, they say "FREEZE!" and then they take over the storytelling.

Hurray for the kids doing most of the decorating!!!
