Vacation at Lake Ann

We just got back from vacation with my side of the family in Michigan. This is the view of Lake Ann from the house. It was perfect for our kids. Sandy and shallow to about 50 yards from the house.

The boys spent a great deal of time playing Bumper Pool. Actually, we all did. I started out the week hot (my old days from the Rec were proving useful) but then Ethan beat me and I could never regain my winning streak. Ethan is a pool shark in training.

We went for a hike at Empire Beach to watch the sunset. This is a view of Sleeping Bear Dunes from the trail.

We traveled to Leland to see Fishtown and have a pretzel bread sandwich. Of course, we washed lunch down with an ice cream cone. Ethan is very particular about how he eats his ice cream. Adam, however, is not and tends to be covered in ice cream by the time he gets done. Out of respect for him and your appetite, I decided to omit his ice cream photo.

Climbing Sleeping Bear Dunes

Dune climbing is hard work!

We did not climb this dune but instead chose to enjoy the view....from the top. No, those are not ants- they're people climbing back up from Lake Michigan.

There were several kayaks at our house and so we all enjoyed them. This is Grampy taking Abby Jane for a ride in the bigger kayak.

Caleb turns out to have a natural inclination for kayaking. I could not believe how far he went with those skinny arms!

We visited an old time blacksmith shop in Glen Haven. He even made a hook for us to bring home!

We also had a campfire and roasted S'mores.

It was a really great vacation and fun to see many of the places that Mike visits when he does his yearly bike trip with the guys from church.
