Brukner Nature Center

Well, if the title of this blog is "A Few of Our Favorite Things" then we definitely need to include Brukner as one of our favorite places. Yesterday, we were there for our Homeschool Nature Club. Our theme for this month was insects so we spent time in the meadow with nets looking for bugs and then we went down to the creek to look for water bugs. We found some really cool stuff!(however not all of it was insect related- oh well.)

This is a crawdad caught in the stream. We tried to find more under masses of leaves but by that time they probably all swam away.

On the underside of this rock my friend, Barb, made a few discoveries. On the left we have the larval stage of the caddis fly. On the right you can see a cluster of salamander eggs. A fun time was had by all!
