We just finished reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick which has been awarded the Caldecott Medal for 2008. What an awesome book- and unlike any other book I have read before. It looks like a large novel but has scores and scores of pages filled with excellent drawings- thus qualifying it for the Caldecott which is given to the best picture book of the year. The drawings were captivating and the plot mysterious. The pictures are used instead of prose for portions of the book and this led to some interesting discussion. And best of all, there is a happy ending with an interesting twist on the last page......enjoy!

A Favorite Book......
